[ Mimi Anthony ]Sophomore attacker Mimi Anthony (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook School) scored midway through the second half to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Washington & Jefferson in non-conference action on Friday at Selby Field.

The Bishops looked to get on the scoreboard early, earning 5 penalty corners during the first 5 minutes of play. On the fifth corner, junior attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson) had her shot stopped by President keeper Shelby Colyer, but a W&J foul resulted in a penalty stroke for the Bishops, with Colyer making the save Cocumelli's penalty stroke to keep the game scoreless.

The defensive battle carried over into the second half, with Washington & Jefferson and Ohio Wesleyan earning 3 corners apiece during the opening minutes of the period. On the Bishops' third corner, Colyer again made a save of a Cocumelli shot, with the Bishops awarded another corner.

Junior defender Hannah Coughlin (Dublin/Scioto) sent the ball toward the W&J cage, and Anthony redirected it home to give the Bishops a 1-0 lead with 22:30 left in regulation time.

The Presidents threatened with 5 corners during the remainder of the game, but senior Krista Murray (Rochester Hills, Mich./University Liggett) came up with a pair of saves to preserve the Bishop lead.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Washington & Jefferson, 8-6. Murray finished with 3 saves for Ohio Wesleyan, while Colyer had 4 saves for the Presidents.
