1st of 11 at OWU Fall Invitational

[ Michael Sarap ]Senior Michael Sarap (Cambridge) and senior Peter Joyce (Chevy Chase, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) posted top-5 finishes to lead Ohio Wesleyan to the team title at the OWU Fall Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday at Oakhaven Golf Club.

Ohio Wesleyan won the tournament with a 36-hole total of 595, edging Transylvania by 4 strokes. John Carroll was third with a 608, followed by Baldwin-Wallace (614), Heidelberg (619), Carnegie Mellon (624), Muskingum (632), Denison (655), Ohio Northern (657), Capital (666), and Wilmington (676).

John Carroll's Blake Furgerson shot a 65 in Tuesday's second round to take medalist honors with a total of 137.

Sarap finished third with a 147, while Joyce tied for fourth place, one shot behind at 148.

Senior Jesse Chiero (Westerville/South) tied for sixth place with a 149, senior Tommy Harman (Perrysburg) tied for 10th place at 152, and sophomore Caleb Chiero (Westerville/Central) tied for 22nd place at 156.

Ohio Wesleyan players competing as individuals included sophomore Nate Fridley (Sidney/Lehman Catholic), who tied for eighth place at 150; freshman Mark Fischer (Garden City, N.Y.), who carded a 160 to tie for 17th place; and junior Thomas Fox (Galion), who tied for 22nd place with a 156.
