Ohio Wesleyan 1, DePauw 0

Sept. 19, 2009

[ Tyler Wall ]Junior forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) converted a penalty kick for the game's only goal to lift third-ranked Ohio Wesleyan to a non-conference win over 23rd-ranked DePauw on Saturday at Roy Rike Field.

The game's only goal came in the 65th minute of play when Wall was fouled in the DePauw penalty area, then converted the ensuing penalty kick.

Wall had figured in the Bishops' best scoring chance of the first half. Sophomore forward Dylan Stone (Easton, Conn./Barlow) centered the ball from the left side to a sliding Wall, whose tip-in attempt was wide of the left post and snared by Tiger keeper Ted Jacobi.

DePauw's only shot of the first half came when Alex Johnson took a restart from 40 yards out and sent the ball to the Ohio Wesleyan goal mouth, where freshman Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne), who was making his first collegiate start, tracked it down to keep the game scoreless.

Wall and sophomore forward Matt Bonfini (Dublin/Coffman) put together a nice give-and-go during the second half, but Bonfini's shot went wide right.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot DePauw, 24-1. Hendricks had 1 save for the Bishops, while Jacobi finished with 2 saves for the Tigers.
