Ohio Wesleyan 0, Case Reserve 0

Sept. 30, 2009

[ Jordan Halloran ]Neither 90 minutes of regulation play nor a pair of 10-minute overtimes could determine a winner as second-ranked Ohio Wesleyan and Case Reserve played to a scoreless tie in non-conference action on Wednesday night in Cleveland.

The Bishops had the best chance to score during the first half, when senior midfielder Jordan Halloran (Springfield/Catholic Central) squeezed off a shot that Spartan goalkeeper Ben Yabrow saved. Ohio Wesleyan earned a corner kick on the play, but Halloran's shot on the ensuing corner kick was blocked by the CWRU defense, and despite earning 2 more corner kicks in rapid succession, the Bishops could not manufacture another scoring chance.

Each team would take 3 shots during the first half, and Ohio Wesleyan outshot Case Reserve, 4-3, during the second half, but there would be no more shots on goal during the remainder of the contest.

Ohio Wesleyan threatened during the closing seconds of regulation time, but a pair of headers by junior midfielder Ryan Harmanis (Hilliard/Davidson) went high.

Senior midfielder Will Murawski (Alpharetta, Ga./Westerville North) had a shot sail wide midway through the first overtime, and the Spartans' Vinny Bell saw a header go wide in the final minute of the first overtime period. Neither team was credited with a shot during the second overtime.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Case Reserve, 8-7. Freshman Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) recorded 1 save in the Ohio Wesleyan goal, while Yabrow finished with 1 save for the Spartans.
