Ohio Wesleyan 2, Denison 0

Oct. 10, 2009

[ Travis Wall ]Sophomore midfielder Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored both goals to give third-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Denison on Saturday in Granville.

Wall struck early for the Bishops, fielding a pass from junior forward Tyler Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) in front of the Denison goal and burying a shot from 10 yards out.

Travis Wall had a couple of chances to give the Bishops a 2-0 lead, but Denison keeper Kevin Donahue made a pair of saves less than a minute apart.

In the 17th minute, it was Donahue again, grabbing a Travis Wall header to keep the game at 1-0.

Meanwhile, Bishop keeper Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) preserved the lead by stopping a pair of Denison shots, denying Chris Olson's drive in the 33rd minute and thwarting Hubert Beauchemin in the 40th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan added to its lead early in the second half when senior midfielder Blake Pifer (Fleming/Ada) slotted a pass to Travis Wall, whose shot went past a Denison defender and through the legs of Donahue for a 2-0 margin.

Hendricks kept the shutout going with a pair of stops in the second half, both coming on shots by Ish Ghodbane.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Denison, 18-15. Hendricks finished with 6 saves, while Donahue was credited with 7 saves in the Big Red goal.
