[ Travis Wall ]Sophomore midfielder Travis Wall (Columbus/Upper Arlington) scored the game-winning goal and set up an insurance goal to give top-ranked Ohio Wesleyan a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Oberlin on Wednesday in Oberlin.

The Bishops kept Oberlin keeper Zach Lipshultz busy during the first half, piling up 11 shots during the first half of the period. Junior back Eric Laipple (Westerville/South) and Wall each had a pair of shot stopped by Lipshultz, and senior midfielder Blake Pifer (Fleming/Ada) also put a shot on the Oberlin goal.

Wall found paydirt on the Bishops' 12th shot, scoring into an open net off a pass from senior midfielder Jordan Halloran (Springfield/Catholic Central) with 21:33 left in the first half.

Laipple and Wall each put headers on goal later in the period, but Lipshultz was there both times to keep the Yeomen within 1-0.

Pifer and Wall connected early in the second half, with Wall crossing the ball from the right side to Pifer, who buried a shot into the back left corner of the Oberlin goal for a 2-0 Bishop lead with 38:22 left in regulation time.

Freshman goalkeeper Paul Hendricks (Columbus/Worthington Kilbourne) kept the shutout going with a save in the 66th minute.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Oberlin, 23-4. Hendricks finished with 1 save, while Lipshultz was credited with 11 saves in the Yeomen goal.
