8th of 9 at NCAC Relays

[ Kevin Fahey ]Senior Kevin Fahey (Delaware/Hayes), senior Nathaniel Cook (Delaware/Hayes), freshman Jacob Perl (Mansfield/Senior), and senior David Gatz (Delaware/Hayes) posted Ohio Wesleyan's best finish to lead the Bishops at the North Coast Athletic Conference Relays meet, hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday in Gambier.

The annual lidlifter of the swimming season, the meet consists of relay events and is scored similarly to the conference championship meet. Denison won the meet with 176 points to 148 for runner-up Kenyon. Wooster was third with 106 points, followed by Wittenberg (102), Wabash (100), Allegheny (88), Oberlin (52), Ohio Wesleyan (42) and Hiram (32).

Fahey, Cook, Perl, and Gatz combined to finish third in the 200 breaststroke relay in 1:52.50.

Fahey and Gatz also teamed with freshman David Reitan (Green Bay, Wis./Ashwaubenon) and sophomore Evan Huddleson (Westerville/Central) to finish ninth in the 200 medley relay.

Sophomore Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario), Huddleson, Gatz, and Fahey placed 13th in the 200 freestyle relay; sophomore Nate Eckersley (Cleveland/Mayfield), senior Chris Potterton (Needham, Mass.), and freshman Matt Magdic (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) finished 15th in the 1500 freestyle relay; Fahey, Cook, Reitan, and Gatz placed 17th in the 200 butterfly relay; Fahey, Eckersley, freshman Devin Vansky (Marion/Harding), and Sheldon were 18th in the 200 backstroke relay; and Perl, sophomore Michael Gatz (Delaware/Hayes), Sheldon, and David Gatz finished 18th in the 400 IM relay.
