[ Lainey Kekic ]Freshman outside hitter Meg Weissenberger (Toledo/Central Catholic), junior middle hitter Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve), and senior outside hitter Kristin Kovach (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) highlighted the Ohio Wesleyan offense during the first day of the Otterbein Invitational on Friday in Westerville.

Thiel defeated Ohio Wesleyan in its first match of the day by scores of 25-15, 25-18, 25-10. Trine then defeated the Bishops by scores of 25-14, 25-8, 25-13.

Weissenberger led the Bishops with 7 kills against Thiel, with Kekic adding 5 more and freshman middle hitter Ashley Haynes (Norton) and Kovach contributing 4 apiece. Junior setter Sarah Marshall (Lima/Senior) collected 19 assists. Defensively, Haynes had 2 blocks and junior outside hitter Alexa Bean (Columbus/Upper Arlington) piled up 16 digs, while Kovach finished with 12 digs.

Against Trine, Weissenberger again led the way with 7 kills, with Kovach adding 5 kills. Marshall distributed 14 assists, and Bean had a team-high 18 digs.
