[ Meg Weissenberger ]Freshman outside hitter Meg Weissenberger (Toledo/Central Catholic) pounded out 11 kills to lead Ohio Wesleyan against Oberlin in a North Coast Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.

Oberlin won the match by scores of 28-26, 25-18, 25-19.

The Bishops opened their conference schedule earlier in the day, falling to defending champion Wittenberg by scores of 25-12, 25-9, 25-18.

Weissenberger led the way with 11 kills against Oberlin, with senior outside hitter Kristin Kovach (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) adding 8 kills and junior setter Jenna Teeters (Johnstown) contributing 5 kills along with her team-high 25 assists.

Defensive standouts for the Bishops included freshman libero Madison Stofcheck (Richwood/North Union) with a team-leading 10 digs, junior outside hitter Alexa Bean (Columbus/Upper Arlington) with 9 digs, and junior middle hitter Lainey Kekic (Canfield/Western Reserve) with a pair of solo blocks.

Against Wittenberg, Kekic, Weissenberger, and Kovach shared the Ohio Wesleyan lead with 4 kills apiece. Junior setter Sarah Marshall (Lima/Senior) directed the Bishop offense to the tune of 12 assists.

Bean and freshman middle hitter Hannah Benzing (Findlay/Liberty Benton) led the Bishops with 12 digs apiece.
