Ohio Wesleyan 2, Hope 0

Sept. 18, 2009

[ Erica Lowell ]Junior forward Erica Lowell (Bay Village/Bay) and freshman forward Sarah Hoffman (Middletown, Md./Gettysburg (Pa.)) tallied second-half goals to lift Ohio Wesleyan over Hope in non-conference play on Friday at Roy Rike Field.

After teams battled through a scoreless first half, the Bishops took the lead in the 54th minute. Hope was called for a foul, and Ohio Wesleyan was awarded the ball outside the corner of the Flying Dutch penalty area, about 22 yards from the goal. Senior defender Megan Goodrich (Brecksville/Laurel School) sent the ball to the goal mouth, and Lowell headed it home for a 1-0 Bishop lead.

Ohio Wesleyan added some insurance in the 68th minute, when junior midfielder Chelsea Keller (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) ripped a shot that hit the crossbar, with Hoffman there to head the rebound inside the right post to make it a 2-0 game.

Hope's Alyson Epolito got a good look at the Bishop goal in the 84th minute, but freshman Margot Klepetko (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) was there to record the save.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Hope, 24-7. Klepetko finished with 4 saves for the Bishops. Kelsey Bos made 9 saves for the Flying Dutch.
