![]() Ohio Dominican 5, Ohio Wesleyan 1 Sept. 26, 2009 The Panthers took a 1-0 lead when Jennifer Holton crossed the ball from the right side to the middle, where an onrushing Sierra Patterson put a shot inside the right post in the 13th minute. Holton was on the receiving end when Ohio Dominican added to its lead in the 20th minute, fielding a crossing pass from Tiffany Schneid and sending a header into the left side of the Bishop goal. The Bishops closed to within 2-1 in the 27th minute. Ohio Wesleyan had earned a corner kick, and senior defender Megan Goodrich (Brecksville/Laurel School) sent the ball into the box, where Madison tapped it into the right side of the Panther goal. Ohio Dominican increased its lead to 3-0 early in the second half. Freshman Margot Klepetko (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY/Hastings) left her line to play the ball, but the dangerous Patterson eluded Klepetko and turned toward the Bishop goal. The Ohio Wesleyan defense broke up the play before Patterson could get off a shot, but Holton got to the loose ball and got enough of a touch to send it into the goal. The Panthers added scores in the 75th minute, when Megan Wharton turned on a Patterson corner kick, and in the 77th minute, when Becky Williams jumped on a Bishop turnover and scored. Ohio Dominican outshot Ohio Wesleyan, 21-10. Klepetko finished with 5 saves, and sophomore Ella Massie-Schuh (New York, N.Y./Brearley School) was not tested during the final 6-plus minutes in goal. Aimee Simonet had 2 saves for Ohio Dominican. |
