Senior Mollie Campbell (Burlington, Vt.), sophomore Becky Simon (Hilliard/Darby), and sophomore Emily Kiourtsis (Pickerington/North) stood out as Cedarville defeated Ohio Wesleyan in the Bishops' first dual match of the season on Monday in Cedarville.
The match was originally scheduled for Sept. 28 but was postponed because of high winds in Cedarville.
Campbell defeated Carissa Parmerlee, 6-0, in the first set at No. 3 singles, but Parmerlee came back to win the match, taking the second set, 7-6, in a tiebreaker and then winning a marathon super tiebreaker by a score of 13-11.
Simon lost to Brooke Johnson in split sets at No. 2 singles, winning the first set, 6-3, before Johnson won the second set, 6-4, and took a 10-5 decision in a super tiebreaker.
Kiourtsis also lost in split sets, falling to Georgiann McClure at No. 4 singles. Kiourtsis bounced back after losing the first set, 6-4, to win the second set, 6-4, before McClure won the third set, 6-1.
