Bishops' Booher Voted to
Academic All-America® Track & Field Teams

[ Kale Booher ]Ohio Wesleyan University junior Kale Booher (Covington/Newton) was named to the Capital One Academic All-America® men's track & field/cross country teams, it was announced today.

Booher was a first-team Academic All-America® selection.

Booher earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors in cross country, finishing sixth in the NCAC championship meet in 26:12.6. The sixth-place finish was the second-best ever for an Ohio Wesleyan harrier in NCAC championship competition. He also won all-region honors with a 19th-place finish, helping the Bishops to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional championship meet, equaling Ohio Wesleyan's best-ever in a regional meet, and placed 128th in the NCAA Division III championship meet as Ohio Wesleyan made its first national appearance since 1979. On the track, he was a member of the Bishops' conference-champion distance medley relay team indoors, and won the All-Ohio Division III crown in the 3000-meter steeplechase, also surpassing the provisional qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III championship meet for the second straight year. Booher was a second-team Academic All-America® selection in 2010. Booher majors in history and has a cumulative grade point average of 3.98.

The Capital One Academic All-America® teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. To be considered for the teams, one must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or important reserve.
