at Denison Last Chance meet

[ Sarah Bechtel ]Freshman Sarah Bechtel (Bellefontaine) set a school record and sophomore Hannah Benzing (Findlay/Liberty Benton) won 2 events at the Denison Last Chance meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.

The meet was not scored.

Bechtel won the pole vault, clearing 11-5 3/4 to break the school record of 10-11 3/4 she set earlier this season.

Benzing won the shot put with a throw of 35-2 and prevailed in the hammer with a throw of 135-7.

Other standouts for the Bishops included senior Audra Pohlman (Delaware/Hayes), who was second in the hammer and fourth in the javelin; sophomore Clare Duffy (Concord/Painesville Riverside), who placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and sixth in the long jump; freshman Holly Fouch (Hillsboro), who was second in the 200-meter dash; junior Marissa Ballard (Columbus/Centerburg), who finished second in the javelin; freshman Brittany Shelhorn (Mount Vernon), who finished third in the 100-meter hurdles and tied for third in the high jump; sophomore Nicole Lourette (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon), who placed third in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump; sophomore Michelle Long (Findlay/Van Buren), who finished third in the long jump and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles; junior Chelsea Imm (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf), who was third in the pole vault; senior Christa Cocumelli (Dublin/Bishop Watterson), who finished third in the 400-meter hurdles; sophomore Jane Lehman (Amherst/Steele), who placed third in the 3000-meter run; freshman Emily Sattler (Marysville), who was third in the 800-meter run; freshman Samantha Simon (Darien, Conn.), who finished third in the 400-meter dash; senior Lindsay Dunbar (Marysville), who placed fourth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200-meter dash; freshman Antoinette Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), who placed fourth in the 400-meter dash; freshman Katie Helfrich (Marysville), who finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles; and senior Laura Packard (Mount Vernon), who was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles.
