Ohio Wesleyan 95, Franklin 74

Nov. 22, 2011

[ Tim Brady ]Senior wing Tim Brady (Dublin/Jerome) scored 5 points during a 9-0 second-half burst that opened up a double-digit lead, and added a pair of free throws to kick off a 10-0 second-half run that slammed the door as Ohio Wesleyan defeated Franklin in the Bishops' home opener on Tuesday at Branch Rickey Arena.

Ohio Wesleyan had built a 6-point lead on consecutive 3-pointers by junior post Greg White (Centerville) and junior guard Andy Winters (Columbus/Bishop Watterson) midway through the first half, and the Bishops would lead by as many as 7 points during the period.

Franklin whittled away at the deficit, making it a 2-point game on Will Conoley's jumper in the closing seconds of the first half, and the Grizzlies were still within 2 points when Conoley hit his first shot of the second half, pulling Franklin within 43-41 less than a minute into the period.

Brady answered with a 3-pointer on the Ohio Wesleyan end, then sophomore wing Dre White (Lima/Bath) followed his own miss and put back the rebound before fast-break lay-ins by Brady and Winters gave the Bishops a 52-41 lead with 16:49 left in regulation time.

Franklin ended that run with a Clay Starrett 3-pointer, but on Ohio Wesleyan's ensuing possession, Starrett was called for a personal foul and drew a technical foul shortly thereafter. Brady knocked down both free throws on the technical foul, junior post Marshall Morris (Tulsa, Okla./Jenks) buried a 3-pointer after the free throws, and Winters converted a 3-point play less than 30 seconds later to complete an eruption of 8 points in 33 seconds.

Marshall hit a jumper from the lane on Ohio Wesleyan's next possession to extend the Bishop lead to 62-44 with 14:56 left in regulation time, and the lead would remain in double digits throughout the remainder of the contest.

Brady led the Bishops with 26 points, while Winters finished with 21 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. Morris added 19 points and a team-leading 7 rebounds.

Conoley led Franklin with 25 points.
