[ Taylor Smith ]Freshman Marcus Ramirez (Ukiah, Calif.), freshman Matthew Mahoney (Nashua, N.H./Phillips Academy), and freshman Ryan Stefancik (Richmond Heights/Hawken School) won events for Ohio Wesleyan as the Bishops opened their home schedule with a dual meet against North Coast Athletic Conference rival Wittenberg on Friday at the Meek Center.

Ramirez won the 100 butterfly in :54.62 and added a second in the 200 IM, Mahoney won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.80 and finished third in the 100 breaststroke, and Stefancik won the 50 freestyle in :23.14.

Other standouts for the Bishops included sophomore Taylor Smith (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), who posted second-place finishes in the 500 and 1000 freestyles; senior Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario), who was third in the 50 freestyle; sophomore Sean Anthony (Coldwater), who finished third in the 200 IM; junior Jacob Perl (Mansfield/Senior), who placed third in the 1-meter diving; and freshman Kaneat Nimcharoenwan (Radnor/Buckeye Valley), who was third in the 100 freestyle.

The Bishop 200 medley relay team of Sheldon, Perl, freshman Thomas DeHaas (Perry), and sophomore Jacob Beach (Upper Sandusky) finished second, as did the 200 freestyle relay team of Ramirez, Nimcharoenwan, Smith, and Mahoney.
