Freshman Matthew Mahoney (Nashua, N.H./Phillips Academy) won 2 events to lead Ohio Wesleyan over Urbana in a non-conference dual meet on Friday at the Meek Center.

Mahoney won the 200 IM in 2:00.15 and touched first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.75. He also finished third in the 100 freestyle.

Also winning events for Ohio Wesleyan were sophomore Taylor Smith (Arnold, Md./Broadneck), who won the 500 freestyle in 5:04.55 and added a second in the 200 freestyle and a third in 100 breaststroke; sophomore Sean Anthony (Coldwater), who won the 1000 freestyle in 10:33.13 and finished second in the 100 breaststroke; and sophomore Anthony Peddle (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica), who scored 144.0 points to take the 1-meter diving.

The Bishop 200 freestyle relay team of freshman Kaneat Nimcharoenwan (Radnor/Buckeye Valley), sophomore Jacob Beach (Upper Sandusky), senior Jesse Sheldon (Mansfield/Ontario), and freshman Marcus Ramirez (Ukiah, Calif.) won its event in 1:30.38.

Other standouts for the Bishops included Ramirez, who posted seconds in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly; freshman Nate Planisek (Delaware/Hayes), who was second in the 1000 freestyle; junior Matt Magdic (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny), who finished second in the 500 freestyle; Nimcharoenwan, who was third in the 200 IM; freshman Thomas DeHaas (Perry), who placed third in the 100 butterfly; Sheldon, who was third in the 100 backstroke.
