
Coach Laura Finkes
Laura Finkes is in her second season as an assistant track & field
and cross country coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Finkes came to Ohio Wesleyan from Slippery Rock University, where she
served as a graduate assistant for 2 years. She coached both men's and
women's throwers for The Rock, helping guide 6 all-conference performers.
Slippery Rock won one conference championship and turned in 3 conference
runner-up finishes during her tenure.
Finkes is a 2004 graduate of Denison University. She was a 4-time North
Coast Athletic Conference champion in the shot put, sweeping both indoor
and outdoor titles in 2003 and 2004. Finkes was named the NCAC's Field
Event Performer of the Meet at the 2003 outdoor championship after taking
titles in the shot put and the discus. She was a 4-time national qualifier
in the discus, earning All-America honors in 2003.
She majored in biology and earned a master's degree in parks and resource
management from Slippery Rock in 2006.
Finkes is a native of Hebron, Ohio.
