Athletics Director Roger Ingles


[ Roger Ingles ]Roger Ingles begins his sixth year as athletics director at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Under Ingles's guidance, Ohio Wesleyan won North Coast Athletic Conference all-sports championships during the 2006-07, 2007-08, and 2008-09 academic years. On a national scale, Ohio Wesleyan has enjoyed similar success, improving its finish in the NACDA Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings in 4 of Ingles's first 5 years as athletics director.

Ingles served as interim athletics director during the 2004-05 academic year while a national search for the position was conducted. Also during the 2004-05 academic year, Ingles was named a 2005 Sports Ethics Fellow by the Institute for International Sport. The 2005 list of Sports Ethics fellows, called "A Celebration of Division III," recognized the great strides and ethical initiatives being undertaken at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III level.

Before becoming interim athletics director, Ingles was associate athletics director for 3 years and assistant athletics director for 7 years.

Ingles served as Ohio Wesleyan's baseball coach for 22 seasons. His teams totaled 15 NCAA Division III postseason appearances and 8 NCAC championships. He posted a career record of 645-322-8, a winning percentage of .666. Ingles's teams won at least 20 games during each of his last 20 seasons.

In addition to serving as Ohio Wesleyan's head baseball coach, Ingles also has been an assistant coach in football and women's basketball, helping both of those teams win their first NCAC championships.

Ingles began his coaching career in 1980 as an assistant at Morral Ridgedale High School in Marion. He became an assistant coach at The Ohio State University in 1982. A native of Columbus, Ingles is a 1980 graduate of Ohio State. He has a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in sports management.
