Last year, the Bishops won the North Coast Athletic Conference West Division crown and finished with a 24-16 overall record. Mott had a spectacular season in his head coaching debut, guiding the Bishops to a 29-19 record, the team’s second straight NCAC championship, and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. His colleagues recognized his accomplishments by voting him NCAC Coach of the Year. A 2004 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, Mott served as pitching coach at Marietta College for 3 seasons before returning to his alma mater. He helped the Pioneers win the 2006 NCAA Division III championship and make a return appearance in the Division III World Series in 2007. “It’s a dream come true,” Mott said. “Ohio Wesleyan has been a special place for me since my freshman year in college. I had a chance to coach at Marietta and learn a lot, and the timing worked out well. I couldn’t ask for a better situation. Coach Ingles started a great tradition, and I’m honored to be able to carry it on.” During his Battling Bishop playing career, Mott earned first-team All-America honors after batting .408 and compiling a 12-1 record in 2003. He was a 4-time all-region selection and earned All-NCAC honors at pitcher, first base, third base and designated hitter. He continued his education while at Marietta, earning a master of arts in liberal learning in 2006. “I’m very fortunate to be able to coach the caliber of players we have at Ohio Wesleyan,” Mott said. Mott is a native of Grove City, Ohio, and attended Grove City High School. season
