Sean
Ryan returns for his ninth season as head coach at Ohio Wesleyan University.
Last year, the Battling Bishops went 12-4, including a 5-0 record in North Coast Athletic Conference action, and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs. The conference championship was the Bishops' sixth in 8 seasons under Ryan and was Ohio Wesleyan's 16th NCAC title in the 23 seasons of conference competition. Ryan was named NCAC Coach of the Year for the fourth time.
In 2006, the Bishops compiled a 9-6 record and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
The 2005 Bishops went 10-4, won the NCAC championship, and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs. Ryan was named NCAC Coach of the Year for the third time.
In 2004, Ryan guided the Bishops to a share of the NCAC championship.
Ohio Wesleyan finished with an 8-6 record.
Ryan led the Battling Bishops to a 10-3 record in 2003. Ohio Wesleyan
won the NCAC championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Ryan was named NCAC Coach of the Year for the second time.
The Bishops posted a 9-5 record in 2002, including a 14-13 overtime win
at Salisbury. Ohio Wesleyan led NCAA Division III teams in scoring, averaging
over 16 goals per game.
The
2001 Bishops went 9-4 overall and won the NCAC championship, Ohio Wesleyan's
second consecutive NCAC crown. In recognition of those accomplishments,
Ryan received his first NCAC Coach of the Year citation.
In
2000, the Battling Bishops compiled a 14-4 record, shared the NCAC championship
and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Five
Ohio Wesleyan players were named to the STX/USILA Division III All-America
teams and 10 were named to the All-NCAC teams.
Ryan
was the offensive coordinator on Ohio Wesleyan's 1999 team, which scored
219 goals, compiled a 12-4 record, advanced to the NCAA Division III playoffs
and was represented by 4 players on the All-America teams. He made his
coaching debut as an assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology in
1998.
He also has served on the board of directors of the Ohio chapter of the
United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Ryan
is a 1997 graduate of RIT, where he a 3-year starter at attack for the
Tigers. He finished second on the team in scoring all 3 seasons and finished
his career ranked among the school's top 15 in scoring and ground balls.
Ryan capped his collegiate career by being selected to play in the North-South
All-Star game.
Ryan
is a native of Manlius, N.Y. He, his wife, Amber (Ohio Wesleyan '99),
and their son, Declan, reside in Delaware.
