![]() OWU Coaches Take Six Coach of the Year Citations
Nan Carney-DeBord was named NCAC Coach of the Year in women's basketball. It was the seventh Coach of the Year citation for Carney-DeBord, who was previously honored in 1986, 1988, 1992, 1993, 1999, and 2000. Her 7 NCAC Coach of the Year honors ties her for the most in conference history. The Battling Bishops finished the season with a 17-12 record. Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament. The Bishops tied for third place in the NCAC championship race, then won the conference tournament to claim the NCAC's automatic qualifier. Jon Whithaus was named NCAC Coach of the Year in golf. It was the fourth consecutive NCAC Coach of the Year citation for Whithaus, and the seventh in his 13 seasons at the Ohio Wesleyan helm. The Bishops won their third straight conference championship, Ohio Wesleyan's eighth in the last 10 seasons, and advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament. Kris Boey was named NCAC Coach of the Year a total of 4 times, taking honors in men's indoor and outdoor track & field as well as women's indoor and outdoor track & field. Ohio Wesleyan won championships in all 4 sports. For the Bishop men, the conference championship was Ohio Wesleyan's second straight outdoor crown, and the Battling Bishops' fourth NCAC track & field title in a row, counting both indoor and outdoor seasons. The women, meanwhile, tied for the indoor track & field title to extend their string of consecutive conference crowns to 3 before winning their second in outdoor crown in 3 years for the Bishops. |
