Weight Room Wait Ends

STUDENTS RETURNED to campus for the spring semester to a bit of a surprise. Over Christmas break, a new composite rubber floor — in Ohio Wesleyan black and red, of course — was installed in the Edwards Gym weight room.

Assistant baseball coach Fody Frentsos and a team of student-athletes worked together to install the new floor. Additional members of the OWU coaching staff assisted in moving the weights. In addition to the aesthetic improvements, there is also a quieter atmosphere; the sound of weights dropping is muffled by the composite rubber in the new floor.

A flat-screen TV was also installed near the aerobics machines.

“It’s a great example of staff and students working together for something that will benefit everyone,” says OWU athletics director Roger Ingles, adding that he hopes to replace some of the weights in the room.

These renovations are part of the Remembering Mr. Rickey Campaign.
